Drip-proof candles by soaking them in salt water. For each candle use 2 tablespoons of salt and just enough water to cover.
Candles placed in the freezer for a couple of hours will burn slower with minimum wax drippings.
Cleaning Candles and Holders
Candle holders coated in wax can be cleaned by placing them in the freezer for a couple of hours. The wax can then be peeled off with no damage to the holder.
Candle holders may also be run under hot water and dried with a paper towel.
Candles can be cleaned with a cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol.
Removing Candles from a Glass Holder
Place the glass holder in the freezer upside down over night. In the morning tap it against your hand and it should come right out.
Candlesticks-Proper Fit
Candles that do not properly fit in their holders can be adjusted by holding the bottom of the candle under hot water until the wax softens and then inserting into the holder.
Removing Candle Wax from Cloth or Carpet
Remove as much as the wax as you can with your fingers. Then using a cloth or paper towel as a blotter, place over wax and press with a warm iron until wax absorbs into the paper towel.
Removing Candle Wax from Wood Furniture
Carefully remove as much of the wax as possible without damaging the wood. Chill the wax with ice cubes in a plastic bag. When the wax is cold most of it should be able to be removed easily. A plastic spatula makes a good removal tool, but be careful not to damage the finish. Any remaining wax can be removed by wiping with a cloth dampened with paint thinner.
Avoid warming the wax to remove if at all possible as the melted wax could penetrate deeper into the wood pores.
